Description:
This course, Oxygen First Aid for Diving Emergencies and Advanced Oxygen First Aid is a program designed to train people in recognizing possible water and dive related injuries and to provide oxygen first aid while waiting for the ambulance and / or transportation to the nearest clinic. The skills in this course are not intended for use in drowning incidents, but can be applied much more broadly, such as heart failure, shock, trauma and other reasons of hypoxia with a victim. The aim of this course is also to recognizing diving-related illnesses with divers.
The aim of this course is to train people in the techniques of using oxygen as first aid for a suspected incident of a submersion (near-drowning).
Skills that are treated are a repetition of the basic first aid skills, (re) identifying hazards in the use of oxygen, proper use of oxygen cylinders and the various links on the bottle, using a demand valve to administer oxygen, use various masks to administer oxygen from breathable and non-breathing victims.
