First aid for spinal injuries
Audience:
Emergency responders responsible for organizing assistance to every victim that has a risk of spinal injury. For example: technical rope rescue teams, emergency response teams, (incompany) firefighter, sport instructors, lifeguards, swimming pools, outdoor businesses, etc.
Description:
In this training, all the basics are covered on how to deal with victims of suspected spinal injuries the right way. The following items are covered in detail and practiced: high-energy trauma, what is high-energy trauma? Situation analysis, incident management, types of neck brace, application of a neck brace, logroll, correct use of the backboard with loose straps, padding and in combination with the spin. At the end of the course the participant have a thorough understanding and sufficient skills to safely provide assistance to victims with suspected spinal injuries.
